Hi, a friend sent me this link because she thought I would find this amusing.
Clearly, you have an eye for fashion. However, one suggestion. When you hate on other people's fashion sense or lack of it, that's fine. When you start attacking them, you sound like a douche. Moreover, an uninformed douche because it takes away from your point. Learn to make your points effectively, instead of attacking the person.
People do have lots of reasons to not be dressed to your standards. Mostly lack of knowledge, or other more important things to be preoccupy themselves with [kids, time, driving, bills, television, the news, education, charity work, watching paint dry, money, etc]. Also, sometimes you do have to wear a traditional outfit and not the tramped up Bollywood version of it.
This leads to my second suggestion, you shouldn't use photos that aren't yours. I'm not accusing you. You may be getting them off public groups or whatever and that's fine. However, if you're taking pictures off social networking sites or other private property sites, you can land yourself in deep shit because those are owned by the site and then the owners. Both can come after you. New photo recognition software can very easily trace photos back to their originals. Just something to consider.
Also, if you get the chance, hobbies outside of judging people are generally a good idea. We have more than enough Desi ice queens running around high on themselves. One more in the stack doing nothing important isn't adding to our cause.
Peace.
I did enjoy this.
Also, I was just curious. I may yet find my answer while I continue skimming your blog, how have you arrived at deeming yourself an authority on the subject?
p.s. I am very sorry about the length.
You clearly take things way too seriously. Relax....it's entertainment!
What type of qualifications does one require to blog? (Other than a good command of the language in which they blog, basic web designing skills and a bit of creativity) If you want to know how I'm qualified to review fashion, I suggest you read my very first post.
You know, I actually did go back and read your first blog. It was a good introduction. I have to give you kudos on the fact that you can openly admit, and with a certain amount of pride that you're small and petty enough to sit in your self-fashioned throne of victimization and look down upon your would-be oppressors. It takes a big person to do that.
I should say, you are right about what you said regarding the requirements of writing a blog. A good command of the language? Check. BASIC web-designing skills? Check. Creativity? Top marks there. I would have never come up with the idea of dedicating time and effort into something like poking fun at others about petty things. I don't think anyone in the world has ever thought of that. If possible, you should patent this idea. Lord knows, every other bitchy, catty and up-on-herself person is going to want to cash in on this.
Also, I think you're getting ahead of yourself. I could never take you seriously. I'm just bored and you're a very, very easy target. You know, with you being so immaculately dressed with such poise and grace, you stand out like a beacon (or sore thumb) among us lesser, fashionably-inept people. But you're right, you are entertaining. However, not for the reasons you think.
Once again, I'm sorry for the length. You do bring it out of me. I can't help myself.
Like I said before, you take things way too seriously (even though you don't admit to it). Your post is proof enough. I'm not gonna waste any more key strokes on this pointless argument. If you're not comfortable with the reading material on this blog, there are plenty of other ones that might suit your tastes.
I don't usually tell my readers to leave, but if you're finding the content offensive, I can't think of anything else to suggest to you.
I just read "Anonymous" 's comments. Well i couldn't disagree with her more. This is you personal blog and you have a right to write WHATEVER you want in here.
Not to mention the fact that I think you have a highly developed aesthetic sense. In my opinion that's all you need to become "FASHION POLICE".
Has Anonymous ever watched Fashion Police in any of the top rated British/American Entertainment shows. The hosts in those shows have exactly this qualification , i.e. a highly developed aesthetic sense.
Please continue because God knows desis need something like that.

Hi, I just have to congratulate you for this fantastic idea of talking about desi fashion. I m Brazilian and I just love indian clothes. I wish I was born indian just to be able to wear all these beautiful and colorful indian styles. Your postings are fantastic and very much informative. It is very hard to find pictures of fashionable indian clothes in such details, so therefore I just have to thank you! And also for keeping it internationally accessable.
Keep up the good work.
:)
I love the pink saree with the leopard print pleats. reminds me of the one that Shilpa shetty wore in one of the songs from Om Shanti Om. Can you advise if this is available for sale somewhere online?
